the nature of EXS is a dual one - on one hand you have the raw samples and on the other hand the instruments (exs-files) - so you need to install both to the respective locations
1) download and install UnRarX (avoid stuffit expander since almost all versions are buggy)
2) verify and if needed repair permissions on your system volume using disk utility
3) set the destination for extracted files to a convenient location on one of your harddrives
4) extract the samples archives using either the menu dialog from UnRarX or with drag&drop directly from the DVD(s)
5) do the same with the sample instruments archives - place them in the respective folder for your logic version
6) optional: use EXS manager from redmatica to relink/resolve the instrument files
7) do not forget to install the performance tool for your respective platform (ppc or intel)
8) up to logic 7 make sure VSL is authorized on your XSkey
9) check the user area - sample libraries - library updates for corrections of the DVD content
