Please help! EXS instrument / Audio File not found!

Hello,
I just purchased and installed the VSL library and am having problems. While all the instruments show up in my EXS menu within Logic, when I try to load anything except a String sound, I get a message that the EXS Instrument was not found AND the Audio File was not found.
Interestingly, I installed the Strings first, and put the samples on the drive with all my other EXS libraries, and they work fine. But there wasn't room for the rest of VSL on that drive so I installed the Brass, Woodwinds, and Percussion samples to a new drive.
It seems there must be a simple way to get Logic to look at that new drive but any help would be appreciated!!!

How do I use the Vienna Special Edition library, and/or performance tool, with Logic 9.1.1? I have correctly installed the performance tool (or at least I think I have...?) ... where is the link between these tools? ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ btw...This *is* a new issue: I have already read the "EXS24 Performance tool under Logic 9", where users asked about the following phrase in the Logic user manual: "TITLE: *Using the VSL Performance Tool in EXS24 mkII:* The EXS24 mkII features an additional interface for the Vienna Symphonic Library Performance Tool. The Performance Tool software provided by VSL needs to be installed to allow access to this interface. For details, see the VSL documentation." In late 2009, users seemed to agree the problem had been fixed. However, VSL documentation does not offer "details" about this. Where do I start? How do I open this "additional interface"? (Mac OS 10.6.4 | 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo | 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3)

I just thought I'd repost this slightly paraphrased from the EXS board. The post itself hasn't been replied to and Marnix Veenenbos hasn't replied to the last email I sent him regarding this. I've recently noticed that a lot of my VSL samples can't be found by Logic 9 when I try to open up. I've tried searching for the wav files through Finder using keywords but it can't locate them. But I can find them manually when I look through my external hard drive - the same external hard drive I've always used for my Vienna Instruments. What I'd like to know is whether I should do a full reinstall from the DVDs given the issues I've seen in other threads here about Logic 9 and the EXS. I went from Logic 7 to Logic 9 if that helps.

Hi i have Logic pro 9 and i read a lot about the performance tool but in fact i never used it and i know that it's not working anymore in Logic...

But here is my question...is there a problem with the legato portamento of opus 1,2 etc... cause i can't hear no more legato portamento..i have a new computer since a year (mac pro quad core) and i never reinstalled the librairy , i just dragged it to the sampler instrument folder of logic...like i said i use all articulations without the performance tool and the only things that ain't worked anymore is the legato portamento...i have Kontakt 4 and i've tried to run these articulations with it but without success.. am i missing something?

if i reinstall all the librairies will it work?

i know the horizon series have been discoutinued a long time ago but still i've paid a lot of money for it (opus1,2 chamber strings and epic horns) so i hope that you can help me just to clearify my situation!

Harmonics in solo Strings

I'm trying to help a colleague set up a template for his VSL EXS solo strings. I can't seem to find the harmonics. Firstly, are there any? Secondly, if so, I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction as to what they are called, and any help as to where they can be found.

Installing Performance Set Pro Onto External Drive

I have just change my setup to a MACBOOK with 2.0 External Hard Drive and wanted to re-install all my Performance Set Pro discs onto the external drive.

How do I get the files onto the hard drive then be able to use them directly through Logic 8? I am at a loss, when I first bought them a friend took care of the installation on my MAC so I am a bit green with all of this.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi all,

I'm a user of Opus 1, Opus 2 and Horizon Solo Strings, and I'm running Logic Pro 7.2.3 on an intel Mac Pro with 10.4.11. I'm having no luck getting the performance tool to appear in the EXS24 - it won't show up at all. I've installed and reinstalled the Performance Tool, and have contacted Christian who has given me some advice, which I have followed. However, still no luck! Can anyone tell me where I might be going wrong? Is the Perf Tool supported in this version of Logic (7.2.3)?

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Performance Legato notes..

Hi, I want to be able to strike a cello ensemble perf. legato sample and hold it down for quite a long duration before moving on to the next note. However, after a certain period the note fades away. Is this because the bow can only strike for a certain length of time before having to stop? Or am i missing a way of being able to sustain the note for even longer? In real life, the performer would change the direction of the bowing in order to sustain the note even further. Can this be achieved with the samples? Thanks for any input, Matt

Hello Everyone.
I was sent an e-mail with a temporary activation code for the performance tool that lasted for 26 weeks. I never received a permanent code for the tool and now the temporary code has expired and I can't use any (perf) samples because they sound terrible.
I have sent e-mails to VSL regarding this but have not
recieved any reply. Does anyone know if there is something
I can do to get my permanent code?

1) to hide keyswitch-notes within the score-editor

2) to route Midi-Data from one TRACK to different PORTS

Can I use the new Proformance Tool with my Cube?

Hello,

I have just had to reload the entire computer after a major crash.

I have my Library on an external Drive, and The Logic 8 EXS does not find the library with EXS Manager.

What do I have to reload to see the library again and can I use the new proformance tool with my old library? The library is on an external disk so I hope I don't need to reload the entire program all over again!

I am using:

Mac G5 2 Duel Gig

4 gigs interanl memory

Version 10.4.11

LoginStudio Pro 8

Lost Audio-Files - can anybody help ? [SOLVED]

Dear all,

recently lost the audio files of several bonus VSL instruments which VSL offered for download a long while ago to Complete First Edition owners, due to a dying external harddrive. I know that this is my fault ( not to back them up properly ), but I wondered if there is anyone out there who could send me the audio material ( I still have the sampler instrument exs files), or if you know any other way to reaquire them.

The instruments are:
EXS-PO-3_CLUSTER
EXS-VC-8_FX-RUN
HO2_BASIC
HO2_PERF-LEGATO
CONCERT_TOMS_a4

I would be grateful for your help, since I did not get an answer to my request from VSL.

snow leopard … glas+stone (EXS24) crashes logic

everything seems to work fine.

but loading a patch from my old "glas and stone" horizone library crashes logic 8/9 immediatly!

Dear VSL people,

I've been having absolutely no luck getting my Performance Tool to work in Logic Pro 7.2.3 on my Intel Mac, on 10.4.11. I'm running Opus 1, 2 and Solo Strings and need to use the Performance Tool for a film that I'm scoring. I've been through some old emails from Christian at VSL, and have done all the required steps to make it appear in the EXS24. I've repaired disk permissions, and have run the appropriate XS-Key Manager, which says that my VSL product is 'registered'.

I just don't know what to do next! Can ANYONE help at all please? I would really like to use this part of the Vienna software.

Logic 8/9 Snow Leopard Memory Limits

In Logic 8.0.2, am I correct that we're still limited to 4GB of Logic memory, even with Snow Leopard?

Is the current version of Logic 9.0.0 also still limited to 4GB on Snow Leopard?

Instrument files after Logic 9 Installation

Since installing Logic 9 I've lost the pre sets that came with VSL (Macintosh HD-library-application support-logic-sampler instruments).

My own instrument folders show up ok (user-library-application support-logic-sampler instruments)

I might have deleted them off somehow by mistake but in either case, where can I get these again?

what's needed for singel instruments?

Hallo Vsl. I have listen a lot to you audio demos, and find your instruments very attracting. But I think I would start with some single instruments. (also because of the price...) I have Logic 8 and wanted to use it with the exs24, so I was wondering what it takes to get it working with ex. the French oboe? If the performance tool should work? Should I buy a Usb vienna key too?

Opus 1&2 from Kontakt to EXS

I have the Opus 1 & 2 libraries as well as VI Special Edition. The Opus 1 & 2 have some articulations that were not included in the VI Special Edition and so I still use them. When I bought the Opus collection I was using Nuendo so I opted for the Kontakt versions of the programs. Now I have switched platforms for music composing to Logic so I was wondering if it was possible to download the EXS24 Opus programs so I can use them that way in Logic rather than through the third party Kontakt sampler.

In an ideal world I would buy more VIs to get the extra articulations but there's no money in the pot for that luxury. Of course I can use Kontakt 3 in Logic but I think EXS24 runs better with Logic than Kontakt which I was never that keen on anyway.

Opus 1 and Logic 7`

Hi,

I"m using Opus1 with Logic 7, for every string sample I bring into Logic, I am creating an instance of the EXS24 sampler.

So if I have 5 strings samples, I have 5 instances/tracks of EXS24.

Are you guys doing it this way? Is there another way I can use Opus 1 without the EXS24?

Also, I'm having a hard time making realistic sounding legato strings, from 1 note to the next note, I don't know how to get this going without sounding dis-jointed. Thanks.
